Hi RAAM Fans ...

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to confront only
the essential facts of life and not to learn at the end of my life that I
had not lived.
               Walden by Thoreau
Quoted by Charlie Liskey in RAAM 1998 Bio in Program

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name

I want to feel sunlight on my face
See that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where The Streets Have No Name by U2 on Joshua Tree

Face piles of trials with smiles,
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave,
And keep on thinking free.
On The Threshold of a Dream by the Moody Blues

This report is dedicated to Charlie Liskey, who is living life to the max, as
he rides on some Streets with No Names and faces piles of trials with smiles!!

I will do one more final RAAM Update report after this one in the next day or
so.

Important Hot Item -- Peter Pop found an error in my report of who gets a Gold
RAAM Ring. I had previously reported that a Gold RAAM Ring would go to all
first time Official Finishers in before 72 hours -- that should be 48 hours.
Peter picked up his Gold RAAM Ring last year by finishing RAAM in 4th Place!!
I also noticed that I mistakenly listed the cutoff for the Ultrium RAAM Ring
for the Team Division to be 36 or 96 Hours -- that should be 24 hours and has been
corrected here.

Solo Division:
Gold Medal: 0-48 Hours behind overall winner
Silver Medal: 48-60 Hours behind overall winner
Bronze Medal: 60-72 Hours behind oveall winner
Gold RAAM Ring: All first time Official Finishers in before 48 Hours
Ultrium RAAM Ring: All Official Finishers in before 48 Hours even if they
already have a RAAM ring from previous races

Team Division:
Under Age 50:
Gold Medal: 0-12 Hours behind overall winner
Silver Medal: 12-24 Hours behind overall winner
Bronze Medal: 24-36 Hours behind overall winner
Ultrium RAAM Ring: All first time Official Finishers in before 24 Hours

Grand Masters 70+:
Gold Medal: 0-60 Hours behind overall winner
Silver Medal: 60-72 Hours behind overall winner
Bronze Medal: 72-96 Hours behind overall winner
Ultrium RAAM Ring: All first time Official Finishers in before 24 Hours

Congratulations to all Finishers!!

The 1993 Race Across America video was shown on the Prime Network and it has
all of the great Gerry Tatrai moments as well as the greatest duel and the
closest finish in the history of the race: Seana Hogan v. Muffy Ritz. It also shows a
dramatic team event as 8 teams battle each other in lightning pace across
America, testing new strategies and tactics.
To order your video, go to:
http://www.CalTripleCrown.com
then to the 1998 Race Across America Hot Items Updates.

These results may not line up on your CRT because of the Proportional Font
being used -- Copy them from here and Paste them into your Word Processor with
a Courier font and they will appear in columns.

Technical Note -- As you may have found, this report is difficult to print
well.
In the prior few E-Mails, there are instructions on how to print it with nice
columns. Let me know if you need these instructions again.

All credit for this work should go to RAAM Headquarters manned by the SCOR
Club and headed by Larry Mahrenholtz. The Web Site is totally awesome and if
you don't have Internet Access, you need to get it in order to really see what
each rider is doing through each time station, etc. Check out:
